I got locked out of the Resource Portal, what do I do?
For security, our system allows a limited number of failed login attempts per IP address. Please contact us for assistance if you are locked out of your account.
After many failed login attempts, our system will block your IP address. This critical security feature prevents attackers from brute-forcing their way into the system.
In a classroom setting, this sometimes happens by mistake if many users on the same wifi network fail their log in within a short period of time. It can also happen if many users share one account.
If you are locked out of your account due to too many login attempts:
- Go to https://whatismyipaddress.com/, and copy your IPv4 address.
- If you have multiple networks, do this for each one. For example, teachers' computers may be on a separate network from students'.
- Contact us with your IP address and the account email that is locked out. We can then unlock your account.
To help avoid future lockouts:
- Each user should have their own unique account.
- When adding students to Droneology, allow students to set their own passwords to help prevent typos.
- If you can't remember your password, use the Forgot Password? link on the login page to reset it, rather than trying to guess the password many times in a row.
- Use a password manager, such as the one built into your browser or an independent one like Bitwarden, to securely generate and store passwords.
- If your organization uses single sign-on, your IT admin may contact us to set up your resource portal accounts using SAML SSO.
