What are the software requirements for Discover Drones?
Discover Drones includes several applications and websites that need to be approved by your IT / Network Administrator.
In addition to the printed curriculum, Discover Drones includes several digital resources. Please ensure that your network admin has approved or installed each of these prior to starting your program.
1. RubiQ Configurator
The RubiQ Configurator is an application used to set up the RubiQ drone for flight.
- Available for Windows or Mac operating systems, and may require administrator privileges to install.
- Requires a USB-A port to connect to the RubiQ drone and access its flight controller firmware.
2. FPV Freerider
FPV Freerider is a flight simulator application that allows students to gain flight experience in a virtual environment.
- Available for Windows, Mac, and Linux, and may require administrator privileges to install.
- Each Discover Drones kit comes with a number of license keys to install this software through itch.io.
- Freerider keys are available in the Digital Resource Portal after the instructor has claimed their PCS Edventures Digital Resource License Key.
- Instructors create an account on itch.io to claim their Freerider keys and download the software to each student computer.
3. Droneology
Droneology is a web-based LMS platform that includes videos and quizzes that reinforce the written curriculum.
- Droneology is part of the instructor's Digital Resource Portal account.
- Instructors invite students to create accounts within their Droneology group, using each student's first name, last name, and email address.
- Videos are hosted on Vimeo. Network administrators may approve each Vimeo video individually, or whitelist the vimeo.com domain to ensure access.
